Phase 2 / yay!

files have been recovered... 'nuff said... :)

At the moment I am still collecting sounds. I am extremely happy i was able to pull my files off my hard drive because most of those sounds are a lot better than my new ones. Its really not the same when I get stuck on finding the same sound, especially with the sounds i acquired by chance and wasn't really looking for. I don't feel like I've accomplished much in the past week since I was somewhat starting over, but I have re written the narrative. i am still currently adjusting it, so it will be posted later, but it will be up in time for class. I feel like i am in pretty good shape now even with the setback. I will continue to collect sounds through Saturday and finish editing by the 28th hopefully.

narrative:

Just sit for a second, take a moment just one moment to look ahead. In an academic institution I guess that’s just what we do. We are required to remember the past in order to move forward. Its all just information taken in long enough to finish the test. Then like that its completely gone.

Do you ever think about where you’ve been, what you’ve done, where you’ve stood? And maybe if anyone else has ever done the same. And… if anyone even remembers

Stand up, walk forward. Follow the sounds of my footsteps, step where I step, keep in time. Listen…

walk down the stairs

keep going straight

do you ever listen? like really really listen? Its so rare that I ever do. Im always in a rush, just trying to get to class. I always forget how big the campus is im always in my own world I never see anyone, hear anything. But on those rare sunny days, when I avoid class to celebrate good weather, suddenly my world is completely filled and im reminded that im not alone

stop here

see the path a little to your left, follow me down it.

So many things have happened here. The smallest moments to an outsider are always the biggest for those its happening to.

Stop here

Look to your left. See the bench? Sit in the middle. It seems like the squirrels have always out numbered the students on this campus. You should always remember to never feed them… they aren’t scared of you. A guy I knew learned this lesson the hard way back a few years ago right here on this very bench. Every time I sit here I try to picture the moment.

He was eating chips

Then he noticed a squirrel, right there, next to that tree in front of you. And the squirrel just stared back at him.

He tossed a chip to it

< the crunch of the bag, then the sound of the chip hitting the ground>
< sound of squirrel nibbling the chip>

He tossed another just a little closer

< the crunch of the bag, then the sound of the chip hitting the ground>
< sound of squirrel nibbling the chip>

… and then one, right next to his foot.

< the crunch of the bag, then the sound of the chip hitting the ground>
< sound of squirrel nibbling the chip>

the squirrel sat right next to his foot, close enough to touch.

So, to complete the experiment he placed on last chip on his lap.

Never forget, squirrels can climb trees…

…but that was a long time ago. People learn, grow up, and change…

stand up

look to your left

follow the path

< everybodys changing is playing>

do you ever think further back to what this place used to be? Before the bricks, before the grass, I like to think about it on rainy days when theres the unsual silence here.

Its all about time.

See the path to your? Follow me down it.

Doesn’t it seem like time is always the enemy? Theres always too much or too little. We’re either killing it or praying for more. Its as though time is always trying to make life harder.

Stop here

Turn to your left and look out over where we’ve walked. The quad… its one of my favorite places. On a sunny day I feel like time cant win here. People laying in the grass, playing frisbee on the sides… people come here to exist in the present, to enjoy now and not look forward or back because well… in Seattle the sun is a rare thing.

Turn around. Out there is a different place.

Walk forward

Only a few steps and the mood changes completely. This is Red Square. Its always filled with performers…,

…activists

…and bible preachers.

This is more of the place to examine the past and think about the future. I once heard on a tour that

stop here

close your eyes

so much has happened here. I always think about what has been accomplished and changed right here in the very place you are standing.

You must have stood here once before or at least walked past it. You must have been to all the other places I’ve just taken you. To think, you probably have never stood alone… there has always been someone else whos been there or is coming.

I always think about where other people have been, what they’ve done, and where they’ve stood. Whenever I learn something new I always remember it.

Just sit for a second. Just enjoy the moment….

I was going to listen to the version you posted a while ago tonight in the quad, but do you want me to now that you have changed the narrative or should I wait for the latest release? Sorry I still haven't been able to, every time I go its really crowded, so I have hope in tonight that it won't be that crowded!
